Congratulations to Gearóid Gaughan who was recently presented with the Matthew Peters/Seán Hanlon Perpetual Cup for Young Hurler of the Year for the year 2012.
Gearóid commanded the full back position right throughout the year and gave some excellent performances.
He is pictured across helping to save a 21m free v Clough/Ballacolla in the quarter final of the SHC last year.
The Cup, along with a trophy which the winner keeps, is presented annually in memory of two outstanding young hurlers who lost their lives tragically in traffic accidents in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
Seán had already won two SHC medals on the field of play while Matthew had been well on the way to commanding a starting position on the team. He was an unused sub for the 1997 SHC success.
