Minor Hurling Quarter Final V Rathdowney 14/4/74
On Sunday 14th April at Rathdowney our minor hurling team qualified for the County Semi Final when defeating the home side on the score Castletown 6-6 to Rathdowney 4-5. Castletown led 1-3 to 1-2 at half time.

Junior Hurling 1st Round V Clonaslee 5/5/74
Our Junior Hurling team defeated Clonaslee in the first round of the championship on Sunday May 5th at O' Moore Park Portlaoise.
The score was Castletown 5-5 Clonaslee 2-6. At half time the score was Clonaslee 2-4 Castletown 1-3.

U21 Hurling 1st Round V Ballacolla 18/5/74
Our U21 team was defeated by Ballacolla in Borris on Ossory on Saturday May 18th a scoreline of 9-9 to 1-2.
Junior Hurling 2nd Round V Kilcotton 30/6/74
Our Junior Hurling team defeated Kilcotton by 4-8 to 3-6 in the second round of the of the championship on Sunday June 30th at Borris in Ossory.

Castletown Junior Hurling qualifiied for the County Final by defeating Portlaoise at Rathdowney on Sunday 14th July.
The score was Castletown 3-5 Portlaoise 0-5. At half time the score was Castletown 1-4 Portlaoise 0-3.

Minor Hurling Semi Final V Abbeyleix 20/7/74
Castletown were defeated by Abbeyleix 9-9 to 1-1 in the County Semi Final at Portlaoise on Saturday July 20th. Abbeyleix led at half time.

Junior Hurling Final V Cannonswood 18/8/74
On Sunday August 18th 1974 history was made in O' Moore Park Portlaoise when our Junior Hurling team won the County Championship after a lapse of 33 years by beating Cannonswood on the score Castletown 5-5 Cannonswood 4-6. The half time score was Castletown 5-1 Cannonswood 3-5.

After the game the Phelan Cup was presented to Jimmy Hanlon by the County Board Chairman amid great rejoicing from the winner's supporters. A victory dance was held after the game in the Leix County Hotel, Borris in Ossory. The guests included the Chairman and Secretary of the Hurling Board and Canon John O' Rourke P.P. All guests spoke and congratulated the team and all associated with them on their achievements on winning the title after only being re-organised after a lapse of a number of years last December.
